Patrol System

  • All children in CHILD Ashram, irrespective of their ages are divided into 16 patrols of a maximum eight persons each. The respective patrol is considered as a family unit.
  • Each patrol consists of a leader – who could be of any age capable of leading a patrol.  This person is nominated by the facilitators at the Ashram.  The patrol leader will select his / her assistance from the patrol group.
  • Each patrol chooses a name of an animal or bird.  The patrol leader is considered as the father and Assistant Patrol leader as mother of that patrol.  The older boys and girls take care of the younger children.
  • All the patrols have their own specific duties on rotation basis, to be performed at the Ashram.  These include, maintaining the stores, work in kitchen, procurement of drinking water, watering plants, work related to making the arrangements for prayers etc.,  This allows for all children and patrols, to be knowledgeable of all the jobs and responsibilities in the Ashram.
  • Every day, all patrols convene their respective meetings at 8.30 pm.  The individuals will share their day and their needs with their leader.
